Remix assignment guidelines

tsf2008:

tsf2008:

Explore materials that use the “Creative Commons” license. Remix some of that material. (Sound/photo/video/text….whatever.) You can certainly  use your own material in addition, but you must use something from the commons as an element in the work.

Suggested time is about a minute. (Don’t make a 40 minute epic that takes up the rest of your semester.)

Have fun. Use this as another chance to explore what your hardware, software and/or real world ingenuity can come up with.

Remix screenings will start on November 12th, at which time I will give you your (minimal) guidelines for the final assignment.

Thanks. Also, I’m having trouble figuring out how to save these video files from the archives to my computer.

I am also having a similar trouble saving the video files to my computer, they keep turning into audio files for some reason..

Lol This is pretty funny, I didnt know Colbert used to act with Carrel! They are both quite hilarious!

Thought this was clever and hilarious. Maybe because I’m biased and love Colbert and Carell together with a passion.

Quotes

The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life, by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life~unkown

All the other colors are just colors, but purple seems to have a soul.  Purple is not just a noun and an adjective but also a verb - when you look at it, it’s looking back at you.  ~Uniek Swain

Im still not sure which to choose.. but i guess we’ll seewht happens

_At the moment_

_In VCU_
Well, my Craft and Material studies project class is quite interesting. We will only meet 5 times total so it definately requires a lot of studio time and things. :) Im excited about this class because Ive only worked with sculpey clay (a plasticy polymer clay) ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sculpey)in )this year, making jewelry, and Im ready to work with something at a larger scale and learn new techniques using these new earthy clays.

New Projects Ill be working on this and next week:

Surface Research-Artist Books

Time Studio- Text Assignment

Focused Inquiry- American Culture-wht you do or do not disagree about what it is. :) its a very broad topic.

_Outside of VCU_

Im really into finding new materials and media to work with.  Ive found this interesting new “Pop Art” trend going on in my Deviantart community. (Deviantart.com: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeviantArt) Ive found Munny (http://www.kidrobot.com/2008/munny/) a vinyl figure, which you can design and decorate however you like. Ive decided to make them christmas presents for my family and friends.  As I come up with new designs, experimenting with mediums, I will post them.  After making the final product, which hopefully will be up by christmas, I will post my finished work. Ive never worked with vinyl before so it will be something new and a great challenge. If it is a success and people are into my designs, I may end up doing a series of ‘munny’, will maybe turn it into a an ongoing project (over a few months), which I will work on during my free time.
